Veneers are crafted from fine shells of porcelain, which mimic the natural appearance of tooth enamel. Veneers are a conservative and effective way to change and enhance your smile. Where a crown encases a tooth in its entirety, a veneer bonds to the surface of your front teeth covering imperfections such as chips, discoloration and can be used to close gaps. They may be used as an alternative to orthodontic treatment, creating a flawless new smile.
Your teeth are prepared by lightly grinding the facial surface of the tooth and removing a small amount of enamel so when your veneers are placed, they blend seamlessly in size and shape with your surrounding natural teeth.
Once a decision has been made to construct veneers, the teeth are prepared, and an impression taken. At the same appointment, temporary covers are made and lightly cemented. This will remain on the teeth until the final veneers are cemented at the next appointment.
